i watched portions of brokeback mountain again. i am all but sobbing hysterically, soaking the carpet in my whimpers and wails.

today i got incredibly angry in the middle of sexuality and dating class. angry at the shit they were shoveling in our direction, the smugness and naivety of it all, just....everything.

i have decided to teach an "Alternative Chastity" class at the community college, because sex is not pure only when it is being performed conventionally by straight couples in lifelong marriages. Sex is sacred in and of itself, and all forms of sex should be revered as such. As far as "pure" or chaste sex, I offer four pillars which make for "sacred" sex, in no particular order--

1) Personal pleasure, gratification, and happiness.
2) An expression and sharing of love.
3) Giving another pleasure, gratification, and happiness.
4) Promoting unity.

*note that 100% lust-driven sex is acceptable, too. it just merely doesn't satisfy the concept of "chaste sex" and is therefore not an expression of love or of truth, which is okay.

*also note that this is the ideal, and because we live in a real world, sacred sex can vary in it's actual practice. just communicate with your partner (or partners-- that's ok, too), and make it something special. special = sacred . end of story. all sex is different, and the Church disgusts me in its attempts to codify all of it into one specific action, which is "sex" for all human instances. yuck.

be safe, be happy, be free.

free love!
