Sloth, yeah. That's me. Out of all of the so-called "deadly" sins, I'm most prone to laze...I just started working on cases for the 2005-06 debate season. My first debate is mid-September in North Carolina...going varsity, baby! The topic du jour is "In matters of US immigration policy, restrictions on the rights of non-citizens are consistent with democratic ideals."
Oy. I love debate...well, I guess I do. I love it about as much as I love most other good things done in waking life. I'm just really reluctant because it takes...work. And I have to......compete. Ick. I'm such a terrible bum. I love doing nothing, sleeping, drinking coffee, biking around, sitting, you know, the things which require no motivation or drive. I mean, I try to do active things, but I really detest the pressure of competition (I avoid it like the plague), and I hate having to devote time to things; precious time that could be used to listen to Rufus and light incense. Yeah, I've got the sloths major =(
But I guess it's all about balance...I do like a "relaxed" lifestyle (aka "intellectual," "comfortable," "hobo-esque"), but I counter it with debate, excercise, and stuff.
Yes, this post was semi-irrelevant (aren't they all, really?), but it did give you a glimpse into one of my inner demons; the one who is always sleeping =)
