Hey,

I know I just posted like 10 minutes ago, but I want a break from debate. So I'll tell you about life here over on the West Coast.

First of all, California is the vegetarian DREAM!!!!! =On the way to UCLA from the airport, I passed an "International Tofu House" and a one-block-long "Whole Foods" organic grocery right next to each other...A FULL BLOCK! There are pamphlets about food additives and the FDA in the campus cafeteria. There are a number of options for non-meat eaters...today at lunch I had a "Vegan Burger" LABELED AS SUCH! When I asked for it, the woman behind the counter instantaneously screamed "VEGGIE!" into the kitchen. I know she was placing an order, but it sounded more like she was frightened and was warning the kitchen that there was a vegetarian in the room...I found it hysterical. And the salad! They have an amazing salad bar-- they've got a ton of different greens there, it's unbelievable...not like the regular old bucket of iceberg and 5 toppings-- they've got romaine, arugula, raddichio, and a ton of other mixes. And they have tofu, chickpeas, and other great topics in a very large variety. And the international kitchen section has a vegetarian option every day...I have a feeling I'll be eating at the int'l section every day; I've had Chinese food and 3 Indian dishes so far, and I think it'll just get better and better. I eat better here than anywhere else, and much more too! INDIAN FOOD THREE NIGHTS IN A ROW! NO CLEANUP! NO BILL! ALL VEGAN! (though my breakfasts are admittedly only vegetarian...otherwise I would be eating cantaloupe to start my day, everyday...XD)

UCLA is great, and CA is just amazing...

I'm eating Red Hot Cinnamon Tamales right now because I accidentally bought them; they are sooo gross, I hate cinnamon flavoured things (but love real cinnamon), but they keep me alert to say the least!

On a related, or not so, note, I just realized from the four comments on my first meager post from UCLA 2 posts down, that PEOPLE READ MY BLOG! AND REGULARLY! This gives me a great sense of connection and power. Thanks, guys, you make Project Geoff possible. Love y'all.

Back to debate camp...this place is the temporary home of the coolest teenagers in America; they're those witty Asian girls with the dark-rimmed glasses you always want to chill with. They're those shaggy-haired philosophers-in-training who forget to shave for days on end. They're those kids who don't think that politics is dry and Hollister is our lifewater. In short, they're everything that kids should be. Our lunch conversations are about religion, politics, republicans and how we should use them as surrogate fossil fuel, and so on. Most teenagers talk about shoes or sports when they congregate; we talk about the justice system. It's a glorious day.
