I had a Starbucks DoubleShot espresso today; it cost me $2.07, and it was rather mediocre...it was flat and bitter with a dirty, dirty aftertaste. So I said to myself, "I bet I could make a drink better than this one at home, for way cheaper." And I did.
I brewed up some French Roast coffee plain ol' drip-style, and thrw it in a blender with ice and soymilk...voila! A drink better than Starbucks for about 100% less. Theirs was 2 oz; mine is 16 oz. of glory. It has 2" of foamy coffee goodness on top, and the body cascades in caramel waves (if you've ever seen someone pour a Guiness, you know what I'm taking about). Mine has a weird, bitterish aftertaste, too, though I think it is because of the soymilk (eew in coffee drinks); heh, just like Starbucks with regular milk...for all you Buxwhores out there, just make your own blend at home with soymilk, you'll get that homey Starbucks gross burnt undertone. But seriously, this one I made is just as good as Starbucks', and would far surpass them if I replaced the soymilk with a more neutral flavour.
Mmm...coffee and corporate resistance go so well together. Hey, don't laugh; the greatest revolutions were born in coffeehouses. I anticipate the next one to occur at a lil' ice cream and coffee place in Newtown... ;)
