George Bush just interrupted a rather decent program on CNN to give us a breaking newsconference. Oh, wait, no he wasn't. He was just reminding us that he'll value frozen pre-human cell structures over our lives. Thanks, George. Oh, and the captions at the bottom of the screen that read "Stem Cells: from Embryos" and "Many people have moral problems with stem cells" really helped clarify my doubts, CNN. Thanks for treating your viewers like they had the IQs of challenged porpoises.
I think someone needs to fire Karl Rove; he used to write such effective propaganda speeches, utlizing fear of terrorism and mob mentality to swing the American people's support behind an administration that is otherwise easily identified as corrupt. But the man who used to so eloquently bang out award winning fear-mongering speeches has finally succumbed to Bush's own, personal style: slow in ways more than one. Yay for giving an address that included an invitation to have some cake to celebrate a child wrought of a frozen fetus; this clearly has such profound political and moral meaning, and surely was a wonderful use of the time you had on stage in front of the entire country you represent. Way to go! I'm proud to say my President likes using his speechtime to talk about Jesus and those goshdarned feti! Why, what better way to prove your point then by rambling in 15-second intervals, repreating those pesky polysyllabic words if necessary, in between ovations from gawking parents, starstruck at being C-SPAN stars all because they shoved a frozen embryo into their uterus, fawning at your every word, vigoruously and even sometimes violently shaking their heads in herdlike agreement.
Oh, what a country. I would have figured the President would have at least made an attempt at addressing stem cell research in his press conference...on....stem...cell...research...if only to attempt to appease the 49% of America who understand his simple-minded incompetence and *shock* don't want someone who is technically retarded running their government and representing them to the rest of the world.
