I went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art with Caitlin and her parents yesterday. It was really fun, and a very good use of an otherwise wortheless Sunday. We went into the city around 11:00, got some chai, and caught a trolley to the museum. On the way, Caitlin gave me this great tile painting she got in Mexico as a birthday gift for me; it resembles the painting I've been lusting after in New Hope for ages. Anyway, we took photos and photos and photos and then we got to the museum, to see the Salvador Dali exhibit.
It was super. I love Dali; he is one of my favourite artists, if not my ultimate favourite. There were over 200 works, so it took a while to see them all. They had old favourites of mine that they brought up from St. Pete's, where I went a few years ago to see Dali's work. They also had some other great ones, which were new to me; I especially loved "The Enigma of Hitler." Very cool. After about an hour, me and Caitlin were starving and our feet and backs ached terribly afterward, but we pressed on. Once we got out, we saw Caitlin's parents standing by the exit, watching us and laughing. We asked what was so funny, and they told us that they had been out for over an hour; they spent two hours in the exhibit, but me and Caitlin spent 3 and a half! Haha...and me and Caitlin rushed at the end, we could've spent 4-5 hours there. Bwahaha. I love art.
After the exhibit, we got lunch/dinner/food in general at Cosi's, a French-based franchise restaurant. It was good. We had this spinach artichoke dip which was SOOO not vegan, but so amazing and cheesy and chickeny(?) (God, I hope not!). I got a hummus and veggie sandwich; too many veggies and not enough hummus, but good nonetheless. The bread at Cosi's is amaaaaaazing. So then I got an iced SOY chai (love meh chai, and this time i got soy to make up for my unvegan chai in the morning) and then we all went to South Street.
I love South Street. Despite the shizzle music, there are great stores. I took Caitlin to Zipperhead, and then we went to the thrift music store; we each got 3 CDs...I got Something Corporate, Bright Eyes, and the Rufus Wainwright album I've been craving for ever and a day. I hate the stickers they sometimes put on the front of CD cases; if you leave it on, it's a giant ugly thing, but when you take it off, the sticky stuff remains. And when you try to clean it off, it spread and is gross! Bleck!
But whatever...I dunno why I bought the Something Corporate CD, as I coulda burned it from Caitlin. But whatever; I guess the corporate minions have got me brainwashed.
And that was my day in the city with Caitlin. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Deane! Great day!
Ooh, I bought some Lotus green tea today at the health food store. Oh, lol, the greatest story ever; the owners of the health food store have befriended a local duck, and he/she hangs around the store now. Yesterday, the duck was hungry, so it just walked into the store, through the aisles, looking for a hand to give it food! XD
Ok, you've had your daily dose of Geoff. Take your newfound wisdom and go do something crazy with it.
