lately, life has been speeding by. Days have been blurs, I’ve gone from first to tenth period with as little as a blink of the eye. It was Halloween last week, Thanksgiving was yesterday, SAS graduation was last month, right? That’s how it’s felt. But today, I slowed down and lived moment-by-moment. The day still sped by, but it was less of a speeding bullet than usual. I listened to Dave Matthews on the bus while drinking Mandarin Orange Spice tea, I went grocery shopping at the Grapevine, I had Garlic Thai Noodles and Gingersnap Cookies. These are the little moments that made my day worth living. Life has a tendancy to speed by and get caught in routine so much that it just disappears. Little reflective moments like these, where time stops and you just are, these are the moments that really make life “life.” Otherwise, it’s just routine.
Hmm…I went on Caitlin’s Xanga today at school, since my computer at home won’t access Xangas. It is so much cooler than my blog. I must update my blog. Now. Too bad my computer is reallllllly slooooow. I don’t get it, because we have DSL and such, but it still would be faster to print out the web sites and mail them to my house.
This weekend, I went out and got two CD’s by Rufus Wainwright (www.rufuswainwright.com), Want One and Want Two. Want Two came with a DVD of him Live at the Fillmore. I’m definitely gonna have to watch it this weekend. I have off on Friday, some teacher in-service and whatnot. And that night is the concert for autism at Gwynned-Mercy. I was going to bring Caitlin but she can’t go because her parents are going to the Josh Groban concert in NY and she’s staying with a friend.
Hmm…Josh Groban….we spent first period Algebra class watching a DVD of him Live at the Greek Theatre (in LA) and talking about our teacher’s close encounter with him. My teacher is a Grobanite, apparently some sort of cult. I don’t know details, but it doesn’t sound healthy =D
Hey, its Mardi Gras!! If you haven’t been to New Orleans before, I highly suggest you make a trip down there ASAP. The French Market is amazing, Riverwalk is cool, Margaritaville is down there, the whole place has a laid-back, Cajun-French feel, the architecture is beautiful, and the people are awesome. Also, the cathedral down there is amazing, and there are tons of fortune tellers and palmists and tarot readers on the outer pavilion in front of the steps. It’s sooo awesome! My uncle has a castle-esque house down there and we go down every now and then. ‘Tis one of my favourite places in the world.
I’m trying to compose a piece for the school paper, but I’m pretty sure that whatever I write won’t be published. The newpaper at my school has proven very sucky; its all about sports, blood drives, and little silly quips. It’s like a community bulletin, not a paper. No drama, no concepts, no story. Apparently, they don’t publish “hot” topics, and I’m told that an independent paper was started a few years back and stopped immediately. W00t for press censorship! Even if I wrote a piece on something serious, gut-wrenching, and intriguing, it’d probably be mutilated by editing or even completely rejected due to “controversialist statements” or whatever. And if it were a really good story, I might get crap from the other students, especially if it is on intolerance in school or lack of respect (I can see the slurs coming already).
I’m trying to figure out what courses to take next year as a sophomore. I want to take 2D&3D Design, Pa, and yeah. I think all four electives will take away too much of my beloved free time (oh free periods, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…) so I think I will take two this year and two junior year. Heh. I’m already planning for the next three years at Ghost, and I’m still not sure if I am staying or transferring to another school. I always wanted to go to a School of the Arts, and Notre Dame is the closest thing to it around here. I think I will shadow Caitlin there sometime, and see what it is really like.
I’ve got French work to do, Math, a Literature quiz to study for, and a History assignment that was assigned last week and due yesterday. I haven’t started yet.
Anyway, I feel like I’ve rambled for this whole entry. Three cookies for anyone who actually read this thing in its entirety. You’re either really bored or stalking me. Either way, your cookies will be air-mailed to your door. Expect them in 6-8 weeks.
