Harry Potter has left the building….yes, you heard right. I got a haircut. ::gasp::
I know you are probably in utter shock right now, as anyone who knows me knows that I am a vehement enemy of short hair and violently defend my long strands of keratin with every fiber of my soul =D But, not only did I get a cut, but it wasn’t a trim; it was a full-fledged shortifying haircut. ::DOUBLEGASP:: What can I say, I’ve had a change of heart…Now, it’s not a super-short haircut (I’m adventurous, not insane) and it isn’t one of those horrid, vile “regular boys haircuts.” ::shudder::
Those words creep me out. It is reminiscent of what I like to call the “Dark Ages” of my style; aka the days when I went to the…the…barber shop! Ack!!!! I still remember those days; most kids at my school still opt for that locale over the salon; maybe its because they are intimidated, or maybe its because they think salons are for chicks and flamboyant men only. Or maybe, just maybe, they actually like bad hair. The horror! Nothing strikes fear in my heart more than clippered-sides, a scissored-top with no definition clean-cut sideburns, and a severe length-border all around the circumference of their head! Now, my cut is very remnicent of a typical clean-cut, medium-shortish, barberesque (not quite, I hope) creation. Luckily, my cut has only a tiny length-difference happening, though I do have clean-cut burns and ears (for the first time in literally years). However, I will have definition via rough paste, and no no no, I didn’t let them touch my head with those ghastly clippers—don’t get me wrong, it can look OK on some people, and I suppose they can be used to make chic dos, but in all my years of owning hair, I’ve never seen them used for anything except a barber-horror show starring some poor soul’s head.
Well, the point is my hair looks good, and it will definitely get better in the coming weeks, when it grows a teensy bit and gets more definition. Plus, I’ll feel less barber-y with shaggy hair o’er my ears and ‘burns. :D
In other news, we’re doing existentialism in Literature. Did I mention I looooove Sarte? I have an intense desire to purchase a copy of Being and Nothingness.
So, new hair, new philosophy, new thoughts, new problems, new stuff in general. Oh, the joy.
