Just got home from the Grapevine...bought me some nice veganey items.
I have nothing but French homework tonight! W0ot! And I like French, so it doesn't even count as homework, so yay!
Today was the Hungerfast at my school; I had a meager lunch and donated some money to two poor boys who need support to get the food that they are being depreived of due to our current capitalist regime. I was intending on eating only 2 small meals today and no snacks, but I cracked when I got home....hey, I'd just bought chocolate chips and Silk Nog! How could I resist?? Anyway, I figure I got a good feel of what it is like to be living in poverty; it's not fun. Maybe I'll find a World Hunger Day or something and fully fast then.
I got into a bunch of debates today about private land ownership with a few bigoted peers. They kept using "It's private property...that means you can own it...duh" as their argument against collectivism; I'm sorry, but when did defining a term validate its existence? Just because I can put a label on oppression doesn't make oppression a valid practice. And then a kid said to me, "Oh, you're not one of those Native American lovers? In falsetto, clutching breast, 'I'll protect your home...' it's our land, they should get out of the way. We settled on it." The sad part? He was serious. I've diagnosed the majority of my school with CBD, Conservative bigotry disorder; symptoms include blindly following authority of all types, appeal to theological fundamentalism and personal beliefs to settle legal questions, putting phrase-definitions on discrimination to enhance its appearance of validity, and putting personal greed before the basic needs of others.
