ugh. Guess who's coming to visit my town? Guess who's going to be reciting teleprompter-fed ramblings to 15,000 people on the street corner? Why, it's George W. Bush! ::faux-gasp::
I can see it now: traffic backed up for miles, sheep-like citizens whirled into a patriotic frenzy, propaganda flyers filled with inaccuracies covering the streets like dirty snow...
The propaganda has already been sent out to the poor plebians. Today I got two advertisements sent to me, both riddled with terrible inaccuracies, outright lies, and horrendous dosages of doublespeak. (ex: "Clear Skies will protect...from acid rain, smog, and haze." um, hello, Clean Air Act override anyone?) Oh and one reads, "This election is for them." and it has a picture of a soldier and his family. So we should vote for Bush, who sent our loved ones overseas to die for a mistake, because it's the right thing to do for our soliders' families? Does anyone else feel like their brain is about to explode?
I feel an intense need to do something especially anti-Bush today and tomorrow. Like renting a giant speaker and blasting Rock Against Bush throughout the tiny suburban town in which I live. Or creating a giant poster reading "Bush Lied, Americans Died" and hang it in full view of the moronic pep-rally he's holding. (well, he was a male cheerleader in college, after all...)
Oh, and how about our friend Kerry? I was looking at his political views, and he is in the upper right (Republican/Conservative) quadrant, right next to Georgie. Wow, what a choice; this white, Yale attending, middle-aged Conservative man or that white, Yale attending, middle-aged Conservative man. Quite obviously, Kerry's policies are not as far out in right field as Bush's, but Kerry is by no means the ideal liberal candidate. On top of all of this, Kerry is apparently the "most liberal senator" in the Senate. So the most liberal member of the Senate is a moderate Conservative? Doesn't this seem like a problem to anyone?
I can't wait for this election to be over....
